Rowan W. Grae, Pronouns: They/Them , 8 years in care
Rowan Grae is an advocate for youth in foster care in Indiana. They spent time in foster care from age 13 to 18, which inspired them to work for positive changes in the system. As a leader on the Indiana Youth Advisory Board (IYAB), Rowan leads efforts to support LGBTQIA+ youth and collaborates with lawmakers and the Department of Child Services to improve the foster care experience.
Rowan shares their story with foster parents and youth to help them understand the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in care. They also volunteer with various organizations to empower foster youth to speak up for themselves.
In the future, Rowan plans to become a journeyman electrician while completing their degree. They aim to continue their advocacy work and make a lasting impact for LGBTQIA+ youth in foster care.
